Betting rounds

High cards

A high card is a card that can make the highest possible hand in poker. This can be a straight, flush, full house, or four of a kind.

The ranking of standard poker hands is determined by their odds (probability). A royal flush has the highest rank, followed by a straight flush, four of a kind, full house, and then two pairs.

Some games allow for wild cards, which can change the ranking of any standard hand. The highest possible hand in a poker game is a royal flush, which is made up of a 10, Jack, Queen, King, and Ace of the same suit (all clubs, diamonds, hearts, or spades).

When there are multiple identical hands in a game, the highest-ranking pair wins. The lowest hand is 7-5-4-3-2 in two or more suits.
